A Versatile System for Detection of Your Target Animals

Wild Spy's Wireless Identification (WID) tags are animal-borne transmitters with a range of 20-200m line-of-sight, dependent on choice of conformal chipscale or external whip antenna. Each WID transmits a unique identifier which is picked up by a datalogger when in range. WID dataloggers record tag ID, date, time, duration of detection, and received signal strength indication (RSSI).

WIDs come standard in the form of an ear tag, or can be designed in virtually any format to suit most species, including small mammals, birds, and reptiles. WIDs can easily be fitted into existing collars or built into our own collars, as well as fitted to anklets, backpacks or any other animal-borne device.

One WID tag is fitted to each animal and multiple WID receivers are placed around your study site. WID dataloggers can be placed at particular locations of interest (nests, burrows, fences, water sources) or throughout the site and the number needed depends on the site and project aims. Alternatively, WID receivers can be hand-held or attached to UAVs for identification of animals from a distance and survivability studies.

For more information, see our WID brochure.
